Chiropractic basics

A chiropractor diagnoses and treats problems with the spine, joints, muscles and nerves, mainly with hands-on adjustments that restore normal joint motion. At NEWGEN Chiropractic, Dr. Sanio also uses instrument adjusting, muscle work, traction and spinal decompression.

A subluxation is a minor misalignment of a joint, most often in the spine or pelvis, that limits motion and how well nerves communicate with muscles, organs and tissue. Common causes include stomach sleeping, poor posture, looking down at your phone, falls and sports.

For most people, chiropractic care is a safe, drug-free way to treat back, neck and joint pain. Dr. Sanio performs a full exam before treatment to rule out conditions that need medical care, and offers low-force options for sensitive patients.

The pop is a harmless release of gas from the fluid inside a joint when it moves. It is the same thing that happens when you crack your knuckles. Not every adjustment makes a sound, and it isn't needed for the adjustment to work.

Yes. Dr. Sanio has treated children as young as 8 months old and uses gentle, age-appropriate techniques. He also educates parents on how everyday falls and sports can affect a child's growing spine.

Your first visit

Your first visit includes a consultation about your health history and goals, a hands-on exam, a plain-English explanation of what's causing your pain and, when appropriate, your first treatment the same day.

No. Texas does not require a referral from a medical doctor to see a chiropractor. You can book directly online or by calling (469) 966-1656.

Wear comfortable, loose clothing you can move in. Athletic wear is ideal. Avoid dresses, stiff jeans or anything restrictive.

Yes. New patients pay $69 for a consultation, exam and one adjustment if clinically appropriate. X-rays and additional services are not included. The offer is not valid for Medicare, Medicaid or federally funded plans and expires 11/30/26. Book online or call (469) 966-1656.

Treatment

Most patients feel little to no discomfort and many feel immediate relief. Mild soreness for 24–48 hours afterward is normal, similar to after a workout.

It depends on your condition, how long you've had it and your goals. Some patients feel better after one or two visits; corrective care for long-standing problems usually takes a series of visits. Dr. Sanio will recommend a plan after your exam.

Spinal decompression is a gentle, controlled stretch of the neck or low back that takes pressure off discs and nerves. It's commonly used for sciatica, pinched nerves and degenerative disc disease.

Many headaches are triggered by tension and misalignment in the neck and upper back. Adjustments and muscle work in those areas can reduce how often and how intensely headaches occur.

Yes. Dr. Sanio is a tennis and pickleball player and regularly treats tennis elbow, shoulder pain, ankle sprains, calf strains and Achilles tendonitis to help athletes recover and perform.
